A Chinese investor is buying the largest private amber deposit in Ukraine.
The Sun-Craft Center company, which mined the most amber among private subsoil users in Ukraine last year, is being bought by Chinese citizen Ren Yongpeng. His company, Lumos Plus, has become the sole shareholder of the Sun-Craft Center LLC company. The previous majority owner of Sun-Craft Center LLC was Concorde Capital founder Ihor Mazepa (58%). Sources report that the deal is expected to be closed in the coming days. Mazepa noted that he is leaving the amber business to focus on larger projects. The businessman also plans to dispose of several assets in the hospitality industry. Sun-Craft Center was founded in 2007 and mines amber at the Volodymyrets Skhidny deposit in the Rivne region. The special mining permit owned by the company is valid until 2029. In 2023, the company extracted 11,623 kg of amber, second only to Volynprirodresurs of the Volyn Regional Council (14,667 kg).
