A British company, BAE Systems, will manufacture the L119 howitzer in Ukraine.
On April 30, the Ministry of Strategic Industry, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and BAE Systems signed a cooperation agreement to produce L119 guns, announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky. “The development of military armor production is a top priority,” the president added.
BAE Systems is one of the world’s largest defense multinational companies, specializing in producing various types of weapons, the aerospace industry, and developing security solutions. The company’s main production facilities are in Great Britain and the US.
According to President Zelenskyy, weapons produced by BAE Systems are already being actively used in Ukraine and have received favorable reviews from the Ukrainian military.
These include L119 and M777 artillery systems, and the CV90 BMP. The L119 is a lightweight 105mm gun designed for infantry support. It is more mobile than larger caliber systems but has a shorter range and is less powerful.
