Poland’s largest airline plans to restart flights to two Ukrainian cities within six weeks of the war’s end.

Poland’s biggest airline, LOT, has announced it is ready to resume flights to Ukrainian cities within six weeks after peace is established and the airspace is considered safe. The airline is already developing a plan to reestablish air services with Ukraine. The first step is to restart regular flights from Warsaw to Kyiv and Lviv, the main destinations for Poles until 2022. Later, the route network could expand to include regional airports in Ukraine, once their infrastructure is restored.
Additionally, LOT is looking into the possibility of launching flights to Ukraine from other regions in Poland. For Ukrainian routes, LOT plans to use four modern Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes, each capable of carrying 186 passengers. The total yearly passenger traffic on flights between Ukraine and Poland could reach 800,000 people. LOT expects much of the demand will be met by the Ukrainian community in Poland.
