Germany aims to purchase Patriot systems and Trump also pledges support.

German government spokesperson Stefan Cornelius said that Germany is in intensive negotiations with the US to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems and is ready to pay for two of them.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump stated during a phone call with President Zelenskyy that the US wants to assist Ukraine with air defense due to the escalation of Russian attacks. Reports indicate that Trump and Zelenskyy agreed to a meeting between their teams to discuss air defense and other arms supplies.
Simultaneously, Trump denies reports about halting military aid to Ukraine. “We provide weapons. But Biden devastated our entire country by providing weapons, and we need to make sure we have enough weapons for ourselves,” the American leader stated.
Additionally, NBC News reports that halting weapon supplies to Ukraine is a personal decision made by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in order to conduct a weapons audit. Sources familiar with the assessment said that reserves are not at a critical minimum and that providing additional aid to Ukraine will not compromise US military readiness.
Consequently, Michael McCaul, chair of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, urged the US government to quickly resume weapon supplies to Ukraine, stating that “the stop only weakens President Trump’s noble attempts to bring peace closer.”
