The candidate for NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe believes that Ukraine can win a war with Russia.

US President Donald Trump’s nominee for the position of Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich, expressed confidence that Ukraine can win a war against Russia if the right tools are provided. His statement contradicts the Trump administration’s rhetoric, which insists that the conflict has no military solution and requires a peace agreement.
Meanwhile, during the summit in The Hague, NATO countries stated that Russia will be able to maintain the current scale of hostilities in Ukraine until at least 2027. One senior NATO official noted that Putin is currently only interested in short-term peace agreements that will allow Moscow to pause the fighting while maintaining control over the occupied territories. NATO believes that Putin is confident of victory, due to the distorted picture given to the Kremlin by Russian intelligence services.
In April, ISW analysts predicted that Russia could fight the war in its current form for another 12 to 16 months.
