Four European countries will assist Ukraine in building up gas reserves for the winter.

The gas transmission system operators of Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine have created a plan that will supply US liquefied natural gas from Greece to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan Corridor to supply the country for the heating season. They have proposed a route package product for supplies during the period from June to October 2025. To enhance the route’s attractiveness, the parties have agreed on a single tariff for gas transit with a 25% discount. For the Ukrainian operator, the discount will be 46%.
A tender for the delivery of 2.9 million cubic meters of gas per day to Ukraine in June was held on May 29. Tenders for the sale of capacity for the following calendar month will take place on the fourth Monday of each month. A single-price auction mechanism will be introduced to allocate capacity.
By October, Ukraine must have pumped approximately five billion cubic meters of gas into its underground storage facilities to be prepared for winter. The proposed transport package can only be utilized for gas supplies to Ukraine.
