The US will suspend its mediation in peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia if there is no progress in order to attend to more important global matters.

Currently, the US’ attention is also demanded in other regions needing diplomatic engagement, as noted by State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce on May 1.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with Trump’s national security adviser, suggested that the US administration might shift its focus from the war in Ukraine due to more pressing global issues, particularly China and Iran’s nuclear ambitions. According to Rubio, the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine lacks a military resolution.
“There comes a point when the president must decide how much more time at the highest levels of our government to dedicate to this when there are so many even more urgent issues occurring around the world,” he remarked.
US Vice President JD Vance, in turn, believes that the Russian-Ukrainian war will not end soon. Despite this, he remains optimistic about the prospects for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Vance emphasized that the United States aims to do everything possible to ensure that these negotiations take place.
