Vitagro has invested $50M in agro-processing and expanding its land bank.

Since the onset of the full-scale war, the Vitagro group of companies has invested over $50M of its own funds to process and grow its land bank from 60,000 hectares to more than 90,000 hectares.

According to the company’s top manager, Roman Kantarovsky, Vitagro began developing its oilseed operations in 2016 by constructing a small oil press with a processing capacity of 27,000 tons of sunflower and 7,000 tons of rapeseed. After the 2021 season, this operation was expanded and an oil extraction plant was built with a capacity of 100,000 tons of sunflower and 35,000 tons of rapeseed. The plant is currently undergoing upgrades and will be able to process an additional 15,000 tons of soybeans per season.

The holding has identified bioethanol production as its second priority area for development, wherein a plant with a processing capacity of 75,000 tons of corn annually has been launched in the Ternopil region that will be able to produce 27,000 tons of bioethanol. This plant is also being updated to process waste from bioethanol production into high-protein animal feed.

Moreover, the company is one of Ukraine’s top three pork producers and plans to build meat processing plants by the end of the year.
