The restoration of critical Ukrainian infrastructure cannot keep pace with the rate of destruction. However, the proportion of fully restored facilities that had been damaged or destroyed has increased in most areas. The most significant quantitative destruction involved 22,186 apartment buildings and 175,063 private homes that were either destroyed or damaged. To this point, approximately 30% of these have been restored.
In 2024, Ukraine secured over $1.1B from external donors for restoration and development projects. This includes the Energy Efficiency of Public Buildings in Ukraine project undertaken with the EIB’s support; last year, projects worth more than ₴3.8B were processed. The EIB selected 157 communities to receive €50M in financing for restoration of social and critical infrastructure. Thanks to this, the bank approved the implementation of $200M worth of projects in the field of public services.
Also, with the support of the World Bank, the Urban Infrastructure Development Project ($326.6M) was extended last year. Approximately 105 kilometers of heating networks were reconstructed in seven communities for $201.6M.
