Zelenskyy calls on the EU to increase weapons production – both for Ukraine and for its own defense.

President Zelenskyy, at the Davos economic forum, called on the EU to increase weapons production, as it is important for both Ukraine and Europe. He said that at the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine was 90% dependent on US military aid, but now this figure has decreased to less than 40% thanks to an increase in its own defense production and EU assistance.

“But this is not enough because Russia has more than 30 factories in the military sector, and Europe only 45. Russia produces almost 100% more than Europe,” Zelenskyy said, adding that the aggressor state invests everything into its defense sector, while Europe is not investing enough.

The Ukrainian president added that financing the production of Ukrainian UAVs and artillery is not only an investment in European security but also in Europe’s ability to be a guarantor of security for other important regions.

“We need to start joint production of air defense systems to counter all types of cruise and ballistic missiles,” Zelenskyy added.
