Ukraine is developing ballistic missiles and could use them soon.

The WSJ noted that Ukraine is actively building rockets capable of striking deep behind enemy lines. Most of the program’s details are being kept secret, but Ukrainian officials have previously stated that such weapons could be introduced in the near future. In August, Ukraine conducted successful missile tests.

According to Oleksandr Kamyshin, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, funding is one of the obstacles to program implementation. Ukraine has used its Neptune missile to a limited extent during the war, and officials say that a lack of finances is holding back production.

The production of ballistic missiles is costly, as the materials they are made of must withstand very high temperatures upon re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. Another problem is the mass production of weapons. Missile manufacturers worldwide are facing difficulties ensuring a stable supply of components such as engines. Ukraine is further hampered by a shortage of workers and constant Russian attacks on infrastructure.
