During the 1,000 days of the war, Polish businesses have opened 300 companies in Ukraine and are preparing for its reconstruction.
Experts believe that Ukraine can become the same opportunity for Polish companies as Poland was for German companies in the early 90s. Polish companies are not leaving Ukraine, although many are “surviving and waiting for better times.” Since the beginning of the war, Polish entrepreneurs have registered about 300 companies in Ukraine. “Although most of them have little capital, they are a springboard for further expansion,” said Jacek Piehota, co-president of the Polish Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency counted 3,022 Polish companies interested in rebuilding Ukraine after the war. The EU Ukraine Facility program can play an essential role with €7B in guarantees. Polish companies are waiting for their government’s decision on participating in this program, which may affect their competitiveness compared to companies from other EU countries.
