The US announces a $425M military aid package to Ukraine, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine orders hundreds of EW-resistant American drones.
The US Department of Defense announced additional security assistance to Ukraine worth about $425M for the purchase of ammunition for the NASAMS and HIMARS systems, Stinger missiles, c-UAS mobile missile systems, air-to-ground ammunition, artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons, Stryker armored personnel carriers, small arms and ammunition, medical equipment and more.
American UAVs have proven to be ineffective on the Ukrainian battlefield, with most being destroyed with the help of EW. The exception is a drone using AI and Nvidia chips from the Californian startup Shield AI, against which Russian electronic warfare equipment is ineffective. Ukraine ordered over 200 V-BAT drones from Shield AI after the company demonstrated its drone’s combat capabilities in August.
The drones detected 11 Russian Buk air defense systems and hit them with HIMARS missiles. The new batch of V-BAT drones ordered by Ukraine will arrive in Ukraine soon and will be paid for by the US or NATO.
