The wheat harvest exceeds Ukraine’s domestic needs by almost 300%, and sunflower oil exports are higher than pre-war indicators.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported that Ukrainian farmers have collected about 40 million tons of new harvest. This year’s wheat harvest will amount to about 22 million tons. Domestic consumption is approximately six million tons. Ukraine harvested almost 300% more wheat than is consumed domestically. This allows us to remain the guarantor of food security for many countries.

At the same time, in the 2023-2024 marketing year sunflower oil production increased by 13.7% to 6.6 million tons, and export volumes increased by 17% up to 6.2 million tons, compared to the pre-war 2020-2021 marketing season.

In addition, for the first time, one million tons of rapeseed oil were processed in Ukraine, and the export of rapeseed oil reached a record 424,000 tons.

And since the beginning of the new marketing year, Ukraine has already exported 9.28 million tons of grain and leguminous crops. In particular, 5.26 million tons of wheat were exported (last year – 2.83 million tons).
