The first and key round of the negotiation process for Ukraine’s EU accession has started in Brussels.
On September 17-19, a bilateral Ukraine-EU session will be held in Brussels, dedicated to the key negotiating chapter on the rule of law. The negotiations will take place within the scope of screening Ukrainian legislation for compliance with European legislation.
“This is the start of the negotiation process. How the negotiation process will develop in all directions in 2024-2025 will depend on how the first round of negotiations will take place,” Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said in Brussels.
She recalls that the negotiation preparations for the first block related to the rule of law lasted four months. The negotiations will last for three days and cover all reforms in the rule of law.
“We will also discuss the consequences of Russian aggression, the measures we are taking to bring Russia to justice, and the problems that Hungary can impose on Ukraine on its way to the EU”, the deputy PM said.
