A Ukrainian milk and sugar producer is improving its financial indicators: What is driving this improvement?

The first half of the year’s turnover for Astarta Agricultural Holding, the country’s largest milk producer and a leading sugar producer, is €321M, 12% more than in the same period last year. The share of exports in production is 67% against 55% in 2023.

The company’s net profit is €47.1M (-16%). It is noted that the main growth factor is sugar production, which accounted for 40% of total turnover, or €128M (+48% compared to last year), followed by crop production with 31%, or €99M (-2%). Soybean processing accounted for 18% of Astarta’s turnover, or €58M (-18%) and animal husbandry – 8%, or €25M (+20%).

The volume of sugar exports reached 117,000 tons, 300% higher than last year’s figure. The holding processed 90% of its harvest, against 34% last year. Investment in agricultural holding increased by 110%, up to €20.19M, mainly in crop cultivation and sugar production.
