US Treasury: Budgetary support for Ukraine depends on reforms.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated: “Our direct budget support for Ukraine continues to depend on reforms that will further strengthen the stability of Ukraine’s economy and improve governance. I am pleased with the unprecedented level of transparency and accountability associated with this support.”

She reported that the new tranche of budget aid to Ukraine amounts to $3.9B.

“With all of Ukraine’s tax revenue going to military operations, support for Ukraine from the US and our allies is critical to equipping emergency response services, keeping hospitals and schools open, and supporting other critical government functions,” she said.

Yellen also added that the US Treasury Department will continue to use all available tools to help Ukraine in its struggle, including maintaining sanctions and working to use the immobilized sovereign assets of the Russian Federation.

“A successful Ukraine will demonstrate the determination of the US and our partners to protect democracy from authoritarian aggression and strengthen our collective national security,” she concluded.
