Up to 20% of Ukraine’s construction market is comprised of commercial real estate restoration projects,

said Andriy Ozeychuk, director of the engineering and construction company, Rauta.

“Despite the risks of war, the owners of most of the destroyed commercial properties are investing in their reconstruction to restart their businesses, which allows companies to continue to operate efficiently. About 80% of the commercial properties that have been destroyed during the full-scale invasion are located far from the zone of hostilities, and have already been rebuilt or are at the stage of restoration,” he said.

However, according to him, this indicator is lower in the production and warehouse building segment, about 40%. For most of these objects, the owners are seeking financing.

Among the restoration projects in which Rauta was involved are the Retroville shopping center (Kyiv), a Chernihiv Automobile Plant production workshop, and the Novus supermarket in Bucha. Often, an additional investor requirement during the restoration of these objects is to increase their energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal.
