Billions in aid arrives as the EU transfers the first €1.5B, and the US unexpectedly finds another $2B for military support.

The EU announced the transfer of the first €1.5B tranche of frozen Russian asset profits to Ukraine. The money will be directed through the European Peace Fund to support Ukraine’s military and the country’s reconstruction.

Moreover, the Pentagon discovered an additional $2B in errors in its calculations of ammunition, missiles, and other equipment sent to Ukraine, which increased the total amount of incorrectly assessed materials to $8.2B. The US Department of Defense faced problems with accurately assessing defense goods sent to Ukraine due to vagueness in accounting definitions. As a result, an additional $2B worth of weapons may be sent to Ukraine to cover aid previously approved by the Biden administration.

Moreover, the UK confirmed that since the start of the Russian invasion, the country has delivered more than 12,000 anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, but the exact range of weapons has not been reported.
