NATO countries are ready to accept Ukraine into the Alliance, but there is a lot of work ahead.

“All allies agree that Ukraine will become a member of NATO,” but it is still too early to say when this will happen, the head of the organization, Jens Stoltenberg, said at the NATO summit.

The Alliance will continue to support Ukraine “on the irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including membership.” NATO will “invite Ukraine when the allies agree and the conditions are met.”

The communique published on July 10 states that in 2025, the Alliance will provide €40B in support to Ukraine and prepare a “substantial” aid package. A new organizational structure – NSATU – a center that will provide security support and training for Ukraine by coordinating the supply of weapons, training of troops, and cooperating in intelligence and security operations. New deliveries of air defense equipment are expected immediately.

In addition, this summer Ukraine will receive a portion of the more than 60 F-16 fighter jets that have been promised by its partners.

Also, the NATO representative in Ukraine will help it with reforms and other changes that are required for Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
