Ukraine concluded another bilateral security agreement and will receive a Patriot system and assistance in strengthening security in the Black Sea.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, signed an agreement on security cooperation between the countries. Romania will transfer a Patriot system to Ukraine, support it with the same dynamics it has since the war began in 2022, and facilitate the fastest possible transit of all necessary equipment through its territory to Ukraine.

The agreement outlines specific points of cooperation designed to strengthen security in the Black Sea region. Romania will assist Ukraine in demining the Black Sea and provide support through EU and NATO instruments.

Bucharest, together with its partners, will also help the F-16 training center to train Ukrainian pilots. The document also covers intelligence and counterintelligence, cyber security, humanitarian demining, sanctions, and Ukraine’s recovery.

In addition, the agreement establishes a 24-hour emergency response mechanism in the event of repeated Russian aggression against Ukraine or a significant escalation.
