Orban warns EU leadership about “dramatic events” on the front if negotiations do not start. Zelensky considers Hungary a weak mediator.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who visited Kyiv, Moscow, and Beijing on a a self-proclaimed “peacekeeping mission,” wrote a private letter to EU leadership to provide information concerning his meetings with the presidents of Ukraine and Russia and detailed the Kremlin’s position on the war against Ukraine.

“In the next two months, more dramatic losses and military events on the Ukrainian front lines are possible than ever before” – this was the warning the Prime Minister of Hungary delivered.

He wrote that during his trip to Ukraine and Russia, he did not speak on behalf of the entire EU but only sought to learn the positions of the warring parties. According to Orban, Ukraine and Russia are ready for peace negotiations with the participation of both sides.

At the same time, President Zelenskyy emphasized that Orban needs to be more influential in order to mediate between Ukraine and Russia. Zelenskyy believes the intermediary must be economically powerful and influence the Russian economy, such as the US, China, or the EU.
