Half a million hectares were sold in three years. How much is the land worth?
After the opening of Ukraine’s land market, 567,322 hectares of agricultural land were sold. In total, 253,416 land plots were sold at an average price of ₴41,000 ($1,007 at the current exchange rate) per hectare. During this time, land in the Poltava region had the greatest demand: 60,360 hectares were sold with an average price ₴42,750 ($1,050). This is followed by the Dnipropetrovsk region with 58,869 hectares and the Kharkiv region with 54,458 hectares.
According to analysts, the war has affected buyer demand and prices. In half of 2024, Ukrainians purchased 17,036 hectares of land in the Poltava region, paying an average of ₴52,590 ($1,292) per hectare. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, 12,952 hectares were sold for ₴34,000 ($835). But instead of the front-line Kharkiv region, the Kirovohrad region rose to the top three: 9,375 hectares at ₴38,000 ($933) per hectare.
This year, land in the Ivano-Frankivsk region became the most expensive and was sold at ₴101,000 ($2,481) per hectare.
