Ukraine has already received weapons from the new US aid package and negotiations for long-term security guarantees are ongoing.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has reported that Ukraine is already receiving weapons from the new aid package announced last week following its approval by Congress.
However, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not reveal any details to preserve operational security. She expressed hope that this weaponry will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front line.
At the same time, the US State Department announced that negotiations on a bilateral security agreement between the US and Ukraine are ongoing.
“Based on the approval of the President’s request for additional funding, representatives from the Department of State, the Ministry of Defense, and the National Security Council spoke with their Ukrainian counterparts about the continuation of negotiations, which are important for long-term bilateral security arrangements and other commitments under the G7 Joint Declaration,” the message says.
