Several waste processing facilities with a capacity of up to 350,000 tons per year will be built in Odesa.
In the Odesa region, the united territorial communities are finalizing the procedure for the registration of land management documentation regarding the placement of solid household waste processing plants, Iryna Shatokhina, representative of the Odesa OVA, reported.
According to her, there are 628 authorized landfills with a total area of 1,046 hectares in the Odesa region.
“There is no systematized approach to sorting and no infrastructure to ensure waste management,” Shatokhina noted.
That is why a memorandum was signed between the Odesa OVA, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Yuzhna, Podil, and Artsy city councils, the Avangardiv settlement council, and the Znamyan and Safyaniv village councils.
The document details cooperation between parties and implementation within a national project for the construction of waste management plants with annual capacities of 50,000, 100,000, and 350,000 tons, sites that are integrated into local road infrastructure, and the availability of a plot of land that can be allocated for future household waste management projects.
