Ukrainian farmers are restoring one of the industry’s sectors that was destroyed by the aggressor.
Despite the war, Ukrainian farmers have made progress in restoring the volume of vegetable production, which was previously concentrated in the southern part of the Kherson region, which is now temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.
However, even in the conditions of the war and a shortage of labor and specialists, agrarians have resumed cultivation and are almost at pre-war volumes in regions that do not have optimal conditions for this activity, say analysts. They emphasized that growing vegetables is a technologically complex process requiring deep agronomy knowledge and significant investment.
According to experts, vegetable and potato growing in Ukraine will remain profitable in the 2023/24 season, making it possible to increase investments in this sector further next season.
The priority for Ukrainian farmers next year will be the expansion of storage capacities and processing of products to restore the export of vegetables.
