The export of Ukrainian flour has increased by more than 20%.
As reported by the Flour Mills of Ukraine union, Ukrainian flour producers in the 2022/23 marketing year increased the export of their products to 149,700 tons, which is 20.1% higher than the pre-war 2020/21 marketing year. At the same time, in 2021/22 flour export was at a record low and amounted to 69,800 tons. In the current season, the export of Ukrainian flour is forecast at 180 000 tons.
The war has greatly affected the geography of supply. If previously North and Central Africa and the UAE dominated, out of the 10 countries with the largest volumes of imported Ukrainian flour, seven are now European.
The industry association specified that 33,940 tons of flour were delivered to Moldova, which accounted for 23% of all exports, to Poland: 22,160 tons (15%), to Palestine: 14,700 tons (10%), to Romania: 12,980 tons. (9%). Croatia, Hungary, Turkey, and Israel each accounted for 5% of supplies. 6,350 tons (4%) and 4,430 tons (3%) were exported to Slovakia and the Czech Republic, respectively.
