Five waste processing plants will be built in the Poltava Region.
The Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine has proposed the construction of factories that can completely dispose of solid household waste, said Serhiy Dovhalyuk, adviser to the Minister of Ecology. Enterprises will be built in Poltava, Lubny, Kremenchuk, Kobelyaki, and Zinkiv. The waste plants are planned to be built simultaneously, which might take up to two years.
According to the minister’s adviser, these facilities will not use incineration. Through the waste processing process the plant will generate electricity. International banks are ready to finance up to 80% of the construction costs of these plants and up to 20% will come from private sources.
“Many investors would like to invest money in waste processing in Ukraine, and we must give them transparent documents and steps to help them enter the Ukrainian market“, said the minister’s adviser.
To achieve this, a working group has been created to prepare documentation for European banks. Investors will receive assistance with project documentation.
