Summit of the European Political Community in Spain: additional air defenses and support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Within the summit’s framework, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. They discussed a defense support package that includes additional air defense, artillery, and anti-drone systems.
“We are preparing to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU under the presidency of Spain,” the president added.
Sanchez, in turn, emphasized that Spain will support Ukraine until the end of the war. Currently, he is thinking about a reform that will provide a financial basis for directing all resources to help and support Ukraine in the coming years. In addition, Sánchez added that Spain favors expanding the EU from 28 to 35 members.
At the summit, Zelensky also met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and discussed the next military aid package for Ukraine.
