The training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in the US will start in the fall, and talks on the terms of aircraft delivery will continue.
On August 24, Pentagon representative Patrick Ryder confirmed that the US will begin training Ukrainians in October, but before that, English courses will be arranged for them in September. According to the NYT, the pilots will first undergo English language training in Texas and then begin multi-month flight training in Arizona.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed by phone the possibility of accelerating the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv, the White House reported.
At the same time, the Netherlands said that Ukraine will receive the F-16 in six to eight months, after fulfilling several conditions. The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, clarified that among these conditions is the increase in training so that Ukraine has enough flight combat personnel for the fighter jets. In addition, it is also necessary to have spare parts and weapons for the aircraft. As well, the exact conditions of the aircraft transfer are still being discussed.
