Poland will close the border for Ukrainian products after September 15.

Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus said the country will close the border for Ukrainian grain after September 15. “Even if the EU does not make such a decision, we will close the border for Ukrainian products after September 15. I think that some of the five bordering countries will do the same. This is not against anyone, but for the well-being of Polish farmers,” Telus said.

In July, five European Union countries reportedly signed a declaration to extend the ban on Ukrainian grain imports to protect the interests of their farmers, but food can still enter the global market through their territories after Russia withdrew from the grain agreement.

The Ministers of Agriculture of Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia are asking the EU to develop mechanisms that will allow Ukrainian grain and other food products to be delivered to their destinations without harming the agricultural sectors of transit countries.
