The G7 has highlighted their expectations for investment in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The ambassadors of the Group of Seven nations have identified the steps and reforms that are expected from Ukraine in preparation for the post-war reconstruction of the country and the arrival of Western investment.
During the meeting with the G7 ambassadors, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reminded them that transparency and accountability are crucial to involving the private sector in recovery and reconstruction. They noted that Ukraine must take several steps in the anti-corruption sphere, in particular: the timely appointment of a new head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), the restoration of the asset declaration system and financial reporting by political parties, strengthening anti-corruption institutions, in particular, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) and Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA.)
The G7 also called for the adoption of legislation to ensure a solid and independent Anti-Monopoly Committee and improve the corporate governance of state-owned enterprises following OECD standards.
