The US confirms negotiations with Ukraine on bilateral security guarantees.
The US State Department confirmed on Monday that talks between Kyiv and Washington on long-term security commitments, which were announced at the NATO summit in Vilnius, will begin this week, said the spokesperson from the State Department, Matthew Miller.
According to him, the negotiations will be a continuation of the statement announced by the G7 on the sidelines of the last NATO summit in Vilnius, where the countries “said that they will participate in negotiations with the government of Ukraine on long-term commitments regarding Ukraine’s security. Discussions will begin this week on how we can decide on the details of these security commitments going forward,” he added.
A spokesman for the US State Department emphasized that the US considers long-term security commitments separately from the military assistance Washington has provided and will provide to Kyiv.
