Erdogan suggests Putin a ceasefire and begin negotiations.

On January 5, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the war in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone. He stated that a unilateral ceasefire and a vision of a just solution must support calls for peace and negotiations. In turn, the Kremlin said after this conversation that Vladimir Putin once again confirmed Russia’s openness to a serious dialogue – “on the condition that the Kyiv authorities fulfill their well-known and repeatedly voiced demands and take into account new territorial realities.” The adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, commenting on “Putin’s readiness for negotiations,” noted that in this way, Russia offers Ukraine and the world the opportunity to recognize its “right to seize foreign territories and commit mass murder” without legal consequences, which is “unacceptable.”
