Due to the war, steel production at the Zaporizhzhya Metallurgical Plant was reduced by 60%.

According to production results from 2022, Zaporizhstal reduced steel production by 61.7%  to 1.49 million tons. According to the company, production of cast iron last year fell by 54.3% to 2 million tons, and rolled steel production fell by 60.4% to 1.3 million tons. In December 2022, the plant produced 142,100 tons of pig iron, which is 64.5% less than in December 2021, 70,800 tons of steel, 79.2% less, and 56,700 tons of rolled steel, 80.3% less than last year. The plant explained this decrease as a result of raw material shortages and logistical problems stemming from the war. In addition, due to massive attacks on the power system and the resulting power shortages, the plant reduced production to reduce its consumption of purchased electricity.
