Ukraine asks the US to help with gas for heating.

Oleksii Chernyshov, head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, voiced a corresponding request to USAID. As the company reported, during a meeting with Erin Elizabeth McKee, assistant administrator of the USAID Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs, Chernyshov talked about the consequences of Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure and Ukraine’s critical needs for the 2022-2023 heating season. According to Chernyshov, more than 300 energy facilities and about 450 km of gas pipelines have been damaged as a result of Russia’s massive attacks on infrastructure. In addition, Ukraine has been forced to use additional volumes of coal and gas to generate electricity. Because of this, the head of Naftogaz called on the US to provide assistance with this issue. Ms. McKee assured Ukrainian officials that USAID is working on Naftogaz’s request for relevant needs.
