On October 10, Russia carried out the largest attack to date on Ukraine’s energy system.
According to Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, the enemy’s goal is to destroy the entire energy system and make it impossible to reconnect electricity supplies from other sources, complicating stable energy supply. At the same time, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denys Monastyrskyi, called this attack the largest in modern history from the point of view of critical energy infrastructure. According to him, 74 strikes were recorded in 12 regions. “The damage done to the energy infrastructure also has serious consequences. Moreover, it was a blow not only to the energy sector of Ukraine but also to the energy system of the EU. Moreover, the forced decision to stop the export of electricity to the EU indicates that this blow was aimed at the united energy system of Europe,” the minister emphasized. As a result of the assault, 18 power plants, of which 8 are TPPs, were damaged.
