Within the EU-US Energy Council framework, which will take place in Washington on Monday, the parties must discuss ways to enhance transatlantic energy security. They also intend to increase the energy sustainability of Ukraine, and to prevent the use of energy as a geopolitical weapon, wrote EU representative Josep Borrell. “Together with the US and other partners, we deny attempts to use energy supplies as a weapon and as a lever of geopolitical influence. The recent joint EU-US statement on energy security has already laid the foundations for resilience against future price shocks and geopolitical tensions around transatlantic energy security.”
