Ukraine and Poland signed a security agreement to help intercept Russian missiles and drones.

On July 8, Ukrainian and Polish officials signed a bilateral security agreement in Warsaw. Among the document’s key provisions is Poland’s obligation to provide several packages of military aid by the end of the year and to continue such support during the 10 years of the agreement. Warsaw will consider providing Ukraine with at least an additional MiG-29 squadron (at least 14 fighters).

“The document allows for intercepting missiles and drones in the airspace of our country, launched in the direction of Poland,” the Office of the President noted.

Also, the bilateral document envisages the creation of a Ukrainian legion, whose personnel will be trained in Poland. Ukrainian refugees from Poland and other countries can join the legion.

The agreement contains a significant section on cooperation between the two countries’ defense industries, particularly in locating production facilities of Polish defense companies in Ukraine and creating joint defense production.
