TAS Group is building the new production facility in Kovel, Volyn Oblast, with investment costs in construction, excluding equipment, totaling approximately UAH 200M ($4.8M). This new plant is part of TAS Dniprovagonmash, which already manufactures railcars in Kamyanske, Dnipropetrovsk region.
The company announced the acquisition of 10,000 square meters of industrial property in Kovel and is currently installing a track to facilitate direct transport between the factory and the EU market. The factory is situated less than 100 kilometers from the Polish border, and the new European-style narrow gauge track will lead directly into the workshop, according to TAS.
Installation of machinery is ongoing and on schedule, with plans to launch the facility in September. All wagons produced at the Kovel factory are certified for the EU market, eliminating export barriers. The plant aims to deliver 100 wagons per month to the EU within the next two to three years.
