Ukrhydroenergo will start electricity export to Moldova in May.

Ukrhydroenergo is the largest hydrogen generating company in Ukraine

The Moldovan state company, Energocom, signed a contract with the Ukrainian state company, Ukrhydroenergo, to supply 30,000 MWh of electricity in May 2023.

“In May, SA Energocom will purchase 290,000 MWh from Moldova DRES in the Transnistrian region, which is 92% of their electricity demand,” Energocom said.

It is noted that the price of $66/MWh was agreed to in March for half a year. Moldova’s remaining electricity needs will be supplied by Ukrhydroenergo, and the previous total volume was 30,000 MWh with the daytime price of $95/MWh and the nighttime at $55/MWh.

Ukraine began exporting electricity to the EU in the summer of 2022, and it quickly became one of the country’s leading export commodities. However, since October 11, exports were stopped due to Russian strikes on the energy system.

On March 21, 2023, Energocom announced the sale of 1 MWh of electricity to Ukraine “in test mode”.
