Ukraine’s largest private operator of railway transportation invested more than ₴160M in infrastructure and logistics but reduced transportation by 9% last year.

According to the results of 2023, the Lemtrans company reduced the volume of transportation of various goods by 9.6% compared to 2022 – to 17 million tons.

The main part of transported goods is coal. It accounted for about 79% of the transportation volume (13.5 million tons). If the volume of coal transportation did not change compared to 2022, then construction materials increased by 30% to 2.9 million tons. The amount of iron ore decreased the most – by 75%, to 0.4 million tons.

The company calls its investment activity an important direction for the past year. In 2023, the Lemtrans group invested more than ₴160M ($4.2M) in infrastructure and logistics projects, mainly to develop the container sector. The development of the Mostyska container terminal in the Lviv region continued. In addition, it was decided to start project work on two new container terminals in Ukraine.
