Ukraine and the US discussed deepening cooperation in critical materials to encourage American businesses to enter Ukraine and invest in mineral extraction and processing. Implementation of joint investment projects was discussed during the meeting between the Ministry of Economy and a US delegation.
Note that Ukraine has deposits of 22 out of 34 minerals identified by the EU as critical. Ukraine is among the top ten producers of titanium, zirconium, graphite, and manganese. Approximately 5% of global reserves of raw materials needed by the US and the EU to produce semiconductors and high-tech products are concentrated in our state’s territory. Ukraine ranks second in the world in gallium mining after China, which banned the supply of this metal to the US and Germany, and fifth in the world in germanium mining.
Ukraine is also among the five leading countries in the world in terms of graphite reserves. Six graphite deposits are currently identified, but only one is exploited, in the Kirovohrad region.
