Ukrainian mobile fire groups will soon be equipped with laser weapons to counter Russian Shahed UAVs, said Vadym Sukharevsky, Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces. According to him, these weapons have already demonstrated the ability to burn aircraft metal during testing. He stressed that the constant UAV development and improvement is a key advantage the Ukrainian military holds over Russian forces.
Moreover, as noted by Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyy a year ago, the Russian artillery ammunition advantage over Ukraine was approximately ten to one. As of February 2025, this ratio had decreased to almost two to one. He noted that the targeted destruction of Russian artillery, the supply of ammunition from partners, and domestic production have all helped to reduce this gap.
