In the first quarter of 2024, the export of frozen vegetables from Ukraine increased by more than 100% compared to the same period in 2023 – up to 2,200 tons. Turnover reached more than $2.7M. Frozen cauliflower, broccoli, and sweet corn became the primary export goods. The main buyers of Ukrainian frozen vegetables were Germany, Israel, Belgium, Italy, Poland, France, and Romania.
According to experts, the growth of frozen vegetable exports is a consequence of the rapid development of berry cultivation in Ukraine. After raspberry production in Ukraine increased sharply, investors began to invest in new businesses to freeze this berry. However, to aid in marketing and to use their equipment more efficiently, companies increased their storage capacity for frozen products, and many began to expand the range of products that they produce, gradually including other berries, fruits, and vegetables.
Over the next several years, this will provide an opportunity to increase the export volume of frozen vegetables. However, currently, Ukraine imports more frozen vegetables than it exports.
