Kyiv can start making its own ballistic and cruise missiles as early as the middle of 2025, said Director of the state enterprise Spetstechnoexport, Oleksiy Petrov. According to him, flight tests of Ukrainian missiles are already being conducted with positive results.
“I can say that both the state and the private sector are moving in this direction. The decision to remove the monopoly on the missile industry was reasonable,” Petrov emphasized.
The head of the enterprise noted positive developments in Ukraine’s production, particularly private production. For example, Ukrainian factories have begun to produce 155 mm NATO-standard shells and are also resuming or expanding the production of Soviet-caliber ammunition (152 mm and 122 mm).
Also, Belgian company Thales Belgium signed a memorandum with a Ukrainian defense enterprise, which provides for the joint production of FZ275 LGR unguided air missiles, which will be used to counter UAVs in combination with Ukrainian Vampire systems. This cooperation may expand into the transfer of relevant technologies to Ukraine that would allow independent production of missiles.
