Ukrainian attack drone companies plan to increase their production of inexpensive and effective kamikaze drones that are not affected by Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems to an industrial scale this month.
Kyiv is set to receive tens of thousands of miniature Auterion computers, known as Skynodes, which will provide Ukrainian drones with machine vision. This guidance technology is currently used in expensive missiles, but Ukrainian specialists have adapted it for small, cheap, smart drones capable of tracking and hitting moving targets. According to the WSJ, these strike drones have a 90% hit rate.
According to President Zelenskyy, the 2025 budget provides ₴775B ($18.7B) for the production of Ukrainian drones. Work on Ukraine’s missile program is also actively underway. Currently, tests of four types of missiles are ongoing, and in the case of naval drones, the tests have long since given away to the destruction of a large number of ships in the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet.
