“The nuclear potential of our country will make it possible to destroy the monopoly of Russian Rosatom in the EU,” said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko. He added that Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector will develop by constructing large new units and small modular reactors. The minister emphasized that Ukraine will be one of the first countries to put these reactors into operation.
Deputy Minister Yaroslav Demchenkov noted that the abandonment of fossil fuels and the world’s climate problems make nuclear energy and renewable energy sources not competitors but two pillars of the ecological transition. Owing to its nuclear and renewable energy potential, Ukraine will be able to cover the growing electricity needs not only domestically but also for a large extent of the entire continent.
