Transcarpathia is turning into an economic hub; what makes the region attractive for businesses?

As of July, more than 80,000 entrepreneurs worked in Zakarpattia Oblast. During the war, the number of entrepreneurs has increased by more than 6,000, which indicates favorable conditions for economic development. In addition, approximately 400 companies moved to Transcarpathia, and 283 continue their operations. More than 10,000 new jobs are planned to be created by employers in the region, and since the beginning of 2024 these companies have paid ₴1.683B to the state budget.

Back in 2022, the Zakarpattia Regional Government developed the Energy Help program to reimburse small and medium-sized businesses for the purchase cost for alternative energy sources (up to ₴300,000). So far, more than ₴27.5M has already been reimbursed. Gas piston station systems are being actively implemented in the region, and permits have been issued for approximately 170 MW, with up to 40 MW to be launched by the end of the year.

Also, Zakarpattia actively implements agricultural support programs, allocating ₴35M this year, runs a competition for startups, and supports manufacturers of goods with significant added value.
