The principles of the New European Bauhaus (a circular economy and green recovery) are included in the conditions for receiving funding from the EU, reported Head of Committee on Local Self-Government Olena Shulyak.
“Ukraine intends to fulfill all the conditions for receiving financial aid from the EU, aimed at economic and social recovery, as soon as possible after the Russian invasion. These are reforms within the framework of the European integration course – decentralization, anti-corruption measures, maximum attraction of private investment, and digitization of recovery processes,” she said.
Shulyak added that the processing of construction waste and its reuse is a separate matter.
European Parliament member Younous Omarjee also emphasized the importance of green development principles. The investments that Ukraine will receive must under no circumstances harm the environment, so Ukrainian legislation must be more closely aligned with European law.
